AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN
TO THE REPUBLIC OF MALDIVES

             

Welcome to the Home Page of the Embassy of Japan to the Republic of Maldives.

             I arrived in Colombo on 16th October 2011 as the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives.

             In the year 2007, Japan and Maldives celebrated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Japan has been evaluating the efforts of the Maldivian Government in promoting democratic reform. We believe that the bilateral relations will be further strengthened in various fields.

          Japan has been providing assistance to Maldives since 1970 to contribute to development in the fields of socio-economic infrastructure and democratic stability.

          As I have worked in the field of economic cooperation for many years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), I would like to make the most of my past experience while serving as Ambassador to the Republic of Maldives 

          I hope this Home Page will be useful to those who support the wide range and long standing friendly relations between Japan and Maldives further.
