Theldeniya Base Hospital upgraded with Japanese Assistance

Japanese assisted Theldeniya Base Hospital complex was opened under the patronage of His Excellency President, Maithripala Sirisena and Mr. Koji Yagi, Charge d ’Affaires ad interim, Embassy of Japan, at Theldeniya on the 11th of April 2017.
The Government of Japan provided 3,935 million Japanese Yen (approximately LKR. 5,232 million) through JICA under the project “Improvement of Basic Social Services Targeting Emerging Regions”. The project aims to provide four secondary hospitals in Sri Lanka with facilities and necessary equipment to implement early detection, treatment and prevention of non-communicable diseases. Kaluwanchikudi Base Hospital and Warakapola Base Hospital were refurbished and vested to public recently under this project and Theldeniya Base Hospital was the third in line. Theldeniya Base Hospital was revamped with a five storied Operation Theatre Complex, Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Judicial Medical Office Unit and latest Bio Medical equipment to ensure quality health care to the community of Central Province.
The Government of Japan hopes that this assistance will be effectively utilized to the welfare of the people seeking treatments in Sri Lanka to improve their health conditions and facilitate the long term development.
