“Sports for Tomorrow (SFT)” -Invitation of a Sri Lankan Judo athlete to Japan-

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will invite Mr. Chamara Nuwan Dharmawardhana, a Sri Lankan Judo athlete to Japan from 17th to 24th July under a project of the “Sports for Tomorrow” diplomacy of the Government of Japan.
During his stay in Japan, Mr. Dharmawardhana will participate in training and exercises at International Budo University, thanks to the cooperation of All Japan Judo Federation, and also will visit Sammu City of Chiba Prefecture to make a courtesy call on the Mayor as well as to make a site visit to the camp site for the Sri Lankan delegation in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, as Sammnu City is designated as the host for the Sri Lankan team in 2020.
This programme aims at inviting sport instructors and athletes, with a view to promoting international cooperation and exchanges through sports as part of SFT initiatives launched by Government of Japan.
We hope that this invitation will contribute to further friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka as well as create momentum for successful 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“Sports for Tomorrow (SFT)”
1. In September 2013, Prime Minister Abe announced the concrete contents of SFT, as programme of international contribution through sports by the Government of Japan, in his presentation at the 125th IOC Session.
2. SFT is a programme to expand sporting value and the Olympic and Paralympic Movement to the people of all generations, including the youth who represent the future, for a better future of the world, targeting more than 10 million people in over 100 countries, including developing countries during the 7 years from 2014 to 2020. To carry out this programme is one of the international commitments of our country toward 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
3. SFT mainly consists of the following three pillars;
(1)International Cooperation and Exchange through Sport
(2)Establishing the system to foster international sports-related human resources through building up the networks between IOC,
international universities and colleges and Government of Japan
(3)Supporting international Anti-Doping Efforts
