The Opening of Japan Visa Application Centre

Along with the number of visitors from Sri Lanka to Japan, we have seen a significant increase in the number of visa applications submitted to the Embassy in recent years. In order to provide better services to visa applicants, we are pleased to announce the establishment of a Japan Visa Application Centre.
The establishment of the visa centre will offer extended hours for submissions of visa application and collections of processed passport, greatly reducing the waiting time associated with the process. Applications will now be accepted in cities outside of Colombo (in 9 locations), offering greater convenience to applicants.
Japan Visa Application Centre will be operated by VFS Global and will begin its operations on February 9th (Thursday) as shown below.

In addition, VFS Global will set up visa application intake and drop-off points in 9 locations throughout Sri Lanka (Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala, Galle, Puttalam, Katunayake, Peliyagoda, Biyagama and Ratmalana), for the convenience of applicants living in remote locations. - How to Apply : An appointment must be made in advance. Please make an appointment online via the website mentioned above.
- Documents for Application ：No changes have been made to the required documents for application.
- Fees / Commissions ： In addition to the standard visa fees, commissions will be charged by Japan Visa Application Centre based on the services provided.

- Important Notice
Please note that visa applications will no longer be accepted at the visa counter in the Embassy of Japan after February 8th (Wednesday). All visa applications are to be submitted to Japan Visa Application Centre from February 9th onwards.
