Providing temporary shelters for disaster victims

Japanese Emergency NGO (JEN), with the financial support from Japan Platform, which was jointly established by NGOs, business communities and the government of Japan, and in coordination with District Secretariat has implement a short–term disaster relief project to provide temporary shelter kits for disaster victims in Ratnapura district who had lost their houses due to recent floods and landslides. The inauguration ceremony to symbolize the distribution of temporary shelter kits was held at the Loka DeniyaVidayalaya in Udakarawith on Aug. 11, 2017 with the participationof officials from the Embassy of Japan, JEN and relevant Government offices.

Under the project, JEN will provide temporary shelter kits for 150 families in 6 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Ratnapura district. These temporary shelters will ensure a more safe and decent living condition for beneficiaries during their transitional period to permanent shelters.
