The Government of Japan confers a prestigious decoration upon Late Mr. P.B. Munasinghe

On 22 November 2018, the Government of Japan announced the conferment of “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays” upon Late Mr. Punchi Banda Munasinghe, in recognition of his significant contribution to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Sri Lanka.
 
Mr. Punchi Banda Munasinghe, who was an active and reliable Administration Director at Institute of Chartered Accounts of Sri Lanka, had dedicated himself to establishing the Japanese Graduates Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JAGAAS) as Founding Secretary. He was then appointed as the President of the JAGAAS in 2007, and took the lead in many seminars, lectures and workshops related to Japan. Through these activities, he had contributed greatly to the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and Sri Lanka.
 
Taking this opportunity, the Embassy of Japan expresses its deepest sorrow and respect for Mr. Munasinghe, who passed away on 3^rd October 2018, and prays that his soul may rest in peace.
