Ambassador’s visit to Sammu-city, the host town of Sri Lanka in Tokyo 2020（杉山大使の山武市訪問）

On February 4th, Ambassador Sugiyama visited Sammu-city in Chiba prefecture, the host town of Sri Lanka in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
杉山大使は，2月4日に2020年東京オリンピック・パラリンピックに向けたスリランカのホストタウンである千葉県山武市を訪問しました。
Ambassador Sugiyama had a meeting with Mr. Matsushita, Mayor of Sammu-city, Mr. Terasawa, Vice-Mayor and Mr. Kase, Superintendent of Education in the Sammu City Education Board at the Sammu City hall, and expressed sincere gratitude to their efforts of promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges including the foster-parents and youth delegation’s visit to Sri Lanka. Ambassador Sugiyama also expressed his wish to support strengthening friendly exchanges between Sammu-city and Sri Lanka towards 2020. Mr. Matsushita, in reply, expressed his wish to visit Sri Lanka in near future.
杉山大使は、市庁舎にて松下市長、寺澤副市長、嘉瀬教育長と懇談し、山武市の里親・里子交流・青少年派遣団等の人的・文化交流の促進に謝意を表し、2020年に向けて、山武市とスリランカとの交流の強化を支援したい旨，お伝えいたしました。松下市長も、スリランカを近い将来再訪する機会を楽しみにされているとのことです。
On this occasion Ambassador Sugiyama also visited “Naruto general exercise park”, the weatherproof athletics field with a brilliant blue track and an artificial-grass soccer ground. We sincerely hope that more and more Sri Lankan athletes will make this field their base for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
またこの機会に山武市成東総合運動公園を訪問しました。全天候型に改修した鮮やかなブルーのトラックが印象的な陸上競技場で，フィールド内は全面人工芝のサッカー場となっています。今後、より多くのスリランカ選手がこのグランドを拠点に2020年の東京オリンピック・パラピンピックで活躍することを願ってやみません。
