Handover of Gravity Fed Water System for Clean Water Supply in Ambagamuwa DS Division, Nuwara Eliya District (Grassroots Human Security Grant Assistance)

On November 2, H.E. MIZUKOSHI Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan, attended the handover ceremony of the gravity fed water system for clean water supply in Ambagamuwa DS Division, Nuwara Eliya District, which was constructed by Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Sri Lanka under the Japanese Government's Grassroots Human Security Grant Aid. .


In this project, the Japanese government provided a total of US$63,197 to improve the quality of life of tea plantation residents by constructing the gravity fed water system for clean water supply (water source dam, sediment treatment facility, water diversion facility, water purification facility, etc.). In addition, the project also improved the quality of life of the residents through health and hygiene training.
 


 
The project will ensure safe drinking and living water for approximately 750 plantation residents in the district, and contribute to improve their access to safe water and their quality of life by deepening their knowledge about health and hygiene.
 

 
The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka will continue to provide necessary support for sustainable development in Sri Lanka.
