Prof. Dilrukshi Ratnayake received the Foreign Minister's Commendation

On 20th October, H. E. MIZUKOSHI Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka conferred the Foreign Minister's Commendation on Professor of Japanese Language Dilrukshi Ratnayake of the Department of Modern Languages, Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya.    
 
Prof. Dilrukshi Ratnayake has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Japanese language in Sri Lanka, as well as promoting mutual understanding and goodwill between the two nations. She is active in the field of education and the promotion of the Japanese language in Sri Lanka. Prof. Ratnayake began her career as a Japanese language teacher and then became a lecturer at the University of Kelaniya. She now serves as a Senior Lecturer Grade 1 in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Kelaniya.
 
She was selected to be on the Southwest Asian Youth Invitation Program conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in September 2002 and was later granted the Monbusho Japanese Government scholarship in 2005. Prof. Ratnayake obtained her M.Phil. and Ph. D from the Graduate School of Letters, University of Nagoya, Japan.


Prof. Ratnayake is an icon in the field of Japanese language studies in Sri Lanka. With her keen knowledge of the Japanese Language, she has not only taught in the classroom but also reached out to wider Sri Lankan students by publishing multiple publications, articles, and conducting presentations related to the Japanese language. Her enthusiasm in and commitment to the Japanese language education have significantly expanded the learners’ interest and improved the quality of Japanese language education in Sri Lanka.
 
Ambassador Mizukoshi, in his remarks, extended his warm congratulations to Prof. Dilrukshi Ratnayake on receiving the Foreign Minister's Commendation and expressed his deepest respect for her tireless efforts to promote mutual understanding between Japan and Sri Lanka. H.E. the Ambassador further expressed his sincere hope that Prof. Dilrukshi Ratnayake continues to play a pivotal role and lead the next generation of students to the Japanese language. It is hoped that this auspicious event will further develop the friendly relationship between Japan and Sri Lanka.
 
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in promoting friendship and understanding between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to garner support from the Japanese public for the activities of the recipients.
