Ambassador Mizukoshi Reaffirmed Japan's Continued Commitment to Supporting Agriculture and Improving Livelihoods in Northern Province

On August 6, 2024, H.E. Mr. MIZUKOSHI Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, visited the ongoing rehabilitation project of minor tank in the Mullaitivu District, Northern Province, supported under Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects.

This project is being implemented by the non-profit organization Peace Winds Japan. It focuses on the renovation of five reservoirs at high risk of embankment failure, the installation of agricultural wells, and the promotion of sustainable farming practices through the distribution of household garden kits and training aimed at improving the livelihoods of local farmers.

During his visit, Ambassador Mizukoshi observed the renovation work being undertaken by local farmers' organizations. He was briefed on the innovative approaches and challenges faced during the construction process. Through interactions with the farmers, Ambassador Mizukoshi reaffirmed Japan's continued commitment to supporting agriculture and improving livelihoods in the Northern Province through this project.
