Ambassador's Commendation Awarded to Mr. Sujeewa Wijayanayake for Outstanding Contributions to Japan-Sri Lanka Relations through Baseball

The Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka is pleased to announce that Mr. Sujeewa Wijayanayake, the Deputy Umpire Director of the Baseball Federation of Asia, has been honoured with the Ambassador's Commendation. The award, presented by H.E. MIZUKOSHI Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, recognizes Mr. Wijayanayake's outstanding service in fostering mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka through his tireless efforts in the promotion of baseball.

The commendation was presented at a Baseball Equipment Donation Ceremony held at Ananda College, Colombo. This initiative, led by Mr. Wijayanayake, has seen the donation of 241 baseball bats and 2400 baseballs from Japan to 95 teams across Sri Lanka, making a significant contribution to the development of the sport in the country.
Mr. Wijayanayake's contributions to baseball, both as an esteemed umpire in Japan and as a key figure in the Sri Lankan baseball community, have been instrumental in strengthening the cultural ties between Japan and Sri Lanka. His leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on the sport and inspired a new generation of athletes in Sri Lanka.
