Announcement of Awardees for the 7th JAPAN Construction International Award

2025/1/16
In August 2024, the winners of the 7th JAPAN Construction International Award, organized by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, were announced. Eiwa Land Environment Co., Ltd., which carried out the "Verification Survey with the Private Sector for Disseminating Japanese Technologies for Self-treatment Type Flush Bio-toilet in Sri Lanka" (September 2018 – August 2024) under the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Overseas Expansion Support Project by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), was awarded the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Category.

This project has introduced wastewater treatment facilities using Japanese technology at the entrance of the Gal Vihara area in Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts numerous domestic and international tourists. These facilities can be installed without access to basic infrastructure such as water supply and electricity and can operate without discharging treated water into rivers, enabling the recycling and reuse of water. This project contributes to the protection of the environment surrounding the historic cultural heritage sites by improving the quality of treated water.
