On the morning of 21st January, Ambassador ISOMATA visited some sites of UNDP projects funded by the Government of Japan such as a farmer training facility with solar PV system in Uppuveli, a Solar-powered Moth Repellents in Kuchchaweli and a Solar-powered Milk Can Cooler in Pulmoddai.

The District Agriculture Training Centre in Uppuveli plays a vital role in equipping smallholder farmers, women, youth, and government officials with essential agricultural knowledge and skills. With support from the Government of Japan through UNDP, a 10-kW solar power system was installed on the facility's roof, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting climate resilience in agriculture.

Additionally, the Solar-powered Moth Repellents in Kuchchaweli use technology developed by a Japanese company. Amb. ISOMATA was delighted to witness firsthand how such Japanese technologies are contributing to the sustainability of Sri Lanka's agriculture and environment.

In the afternoon, Ambassador ISOMATA paid a call on Prof. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, the Governor of Eastern Province and exchanged views on how to develop the Eastern Province. Amb. ISOMATA also visited Koneswaram Temple.
