A New Opportunity to Work in Japan: Automobile Transportation Business Skills Test for Specified Skilled Workers Begins in March 2025

The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce the introduction of a new skills test in the field of Automobile Transportation Business in Sri Lanka this month. This test provides an opportunity for individuals seeking employment in Japan under the Specified Skilled Workers (SSW). With this addition, skills tests adds up to eight fields, including Nursing Care, Food Service, Agriculture, Construction, Airport Ground Handling, Accommodation Industry, and Building Cleaning.
The Automobile Transportation Business field consists of three categories: Truck driver, Taxi driver, and Bus driver. To qualify for employment in this sector, candidates must pass both the skills test and a Japanese language proficiency test. The required language proficiency levels are N4 for truck drivers and N3 for taxi and bus drivers.
The Embassy of Japan sincerely hopes that many skilled and aspiring Sri Lankans will take advantage of this new opportunity to work in Japan. The Automobile Transportation Business sector is expected to welcome up to 24,500 foreign workers over a five-year period starting from 2024. 1) Test Period: 3rd March - 31st May 2025 (Candidates can select a test date based on seat availability at their preferred venue upon application)
2) Venues: Colombo, Dehiwala, Jaffna, Kalmunai, Kandy, Kurunegala, Malabe (Venue details will be provided upon application)
3) Examination Fee: USD 37
4) Test Language: Japanese
5) Test Method: Computer-based Testing (CBT)
