POLICE CERTIFICATE

Police Certificates from the Japanese National Police Agency are issued only when requested by certain authorities as required by law. The police certificates are written in Japanese, English, French, German and Spanish.
Procedure of Application
Please visit the Visa & Consular Section between 1.30 and 2.30 with prior appointments as your convenience.
For appointments make a call to the Visa & Consular Section on 0112693831-3
The application must be submitted by the applicant in person at the Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka.
Documents required for the application are as follows:
1 Original valid passport (Passport must be valid for at least 3 months)
2 Application form ( can be collected over the counter)
3 Fingerprint form ( can be collected only at the counter and the same time finger prints will be taken)
4 If the applicant has documents indicating a police clearance is required, then the applicant must furnish the same.
Processing time
Approximately 2 months to 2 1/2 months
After receiving the application with the fingerprints form will send it to the National Police Agency via Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for examination.
The applicant will be contacted upon results.

Issuance condition
The applicant or the representative may receive the police clearance issued by the National Police Agency in Japan.
If the applicant has physical difficulties of movement, the representative may receive the police clearance certificate with the authorization letter which signed by the applicant and the representative should provide valid identification document which mentioned on the authorization letter(NIC, valid passport, driving licence)
