Bilateral meeting between Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force and Lieutenant General KAKIHARA Kuniharu, Commander, Air Development and Test Command, Koku-Jieitai (Japan Air Self Defense Force)

On February 16, 2022, Lieutenant General KAKIHARA Kuniharu, Commander, Air Development and Test Command, Koku-Jieitai (Japan Air Self Defense Force) had a bilateral meeting with Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force during the Singapore Airshow 2022 held in Changi, Singapore from February 15 to 18 in which the both senior air force leaders participated.
 
This is the first ever high-level exchange between Koku-Jieitai and the Sri Lanka Air Force, which opens a new chapter for bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges. The meeting also became part of landmark events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationships between Japan and Sri Lanka.
 
By holding the meeting, both sides enhanced mutual understanding and trust while strengthening air-to-air military relationship, which will contribute to ensuring safety and security of the Indian Ocean, as well as peace and prosperity of the region.
